Recently, the number of Internet users has increased significantly. According to we are a social website and Hootsuite, they have created the following reports which show the statistics of the Internet users in all the pictures and digital insights.

Digital Reports

The report represents some statistics for digital around the world and annual digital growth:

  • There are 5.112 billion unique mobile users in 2019 with 67% percentage up 2% last year with a growth of 100 million people.
  • There are 4.388 billion internet users in 2019 with 57% percentage up 9% from last year with growth of 367 million people.
  • There are 3.484 billion social media users in 2019 with 45% percentage up 9% from last year with growth of 288 million people.
  • There are 3.256 billion mobile social media users in 2019 with 42% percentage up 10% from last year with growth of 297 million people.

Internet users in 2019

The global insights of Hootsuite and we are social show that:

  • The total number of active internet users are 4.388 billion.
  • Internet users as a percentage of total population are 57%.
  • Total number of active mobile internet users 3.956 billion.
  • Mobile internet users as a percentage of total population 52%.

Between 2018 and 2019, Internet users increased by more than 366 million users.  Internet data collected and synthesized from a wide variety of reputable sources that show that users are growing at a rate of more than 11 new users per second.

Internet user behaviors in 2019

The ways in which people use the internet are evolving quickly too, with mobile accounting for an ever-increasing share of our online activities. Internet users spend 6 hours and 42 minutes online each day. That’s down slightly on last year’s figure of 6 hours and 49 minutes.

The users use Alphabet’s ‘other’ big platform YouTube comes in at number two on both lists, while Facebook takes the third spot. Social media platforms feature strongly on both companies’ lists, and it’s interesting to note that Twitter continues to show strong results in website rankings.

E-commerce sites have been steadily rising through the ranks of these lists over the course of the past year, and the latest data puts 5 e-commerce sites in the top 20 ranking.

GlobalWebIndex reports that 92% of internet users now watch videos online each month, meaning that more than 4 billion people around the world are consuming online video content in early 2019.

Voice control tools usage increased significantly during 2018, with four in every ten internet users now using voice commands or voice search every month.

Social media users in 2019

In social media chart we could see that:

  • The total number of active social media users are 3.484 billion.
  • Active social media users as a percentage of total population 45%.
  • The total number of active social users accessing via mobile devices 3.256 billion.
  • Active mobile social users as a percentage of total population 42%.

Internet users in Japan spending an average of just 36 minutes on social media each day.

Filipinos this year’s usage average of 4 hours and 12 minutes reflecting an increase of 15 minutes per day.

Instagram announced that it had passed the 1 billion ‘active accounts’ mark. active users growing by more than 4 percent in the past 3 months to reach an advertising audience of 895 million active users around the world at the time of writing.

Mobile users have increased by 100 million in 2018 and reaching more than 5.1 billion users by January 2019. 5.5 billion Smartphones in use across the world today.

More than 2.5 billion ‘feature phone’ handsets are still in use around the world though, while cellular ‘internet of things’ (IoT) connections have reached almost 300 million.

E-commerce has grown by 14 percent year-on-year, with the company estimating that full-year 2018 spend on consumer goods alone topped US$1.78 trillion.

Fashion & Beauty posted the strongest growth over the past year. Online travel and accommodation bookings accounted for the largest share of consumer e-commerce spending in 2018, with users around the world spending a combined US$750 billion on online travel over the course of the full year.
