15 Task Management Tips to Boost Your Productivity

Boosting your productivity needs you to work smart not hard. Perhaps some people have the ability to do that while others don’t have this ability. If you want to turn your day into a productive one, in this article there are 15 Task Management Tips to Boost Your Productivity.

15 Task Management Tips to Boost Your Productivity

1-Take regular breaks

It sounds counter-intuitive, but taking scheduled breaks can actually help improve concentration. Some research has shown that taking short breaks during long tasks helps you to maintain a constant level of performance.

2-Take care of your health
Productivity at work can hinge on what you do off the job. Eat healthily, exercise regularly and get adequate sleep. Being out of balance in any of those three areas can throw off your ability to concentrate.

3-Don’t Be A Night Owl

There’s a reason why most successful people are early risers. Erica Nachamkin Adler, a Product Marketing Manager for YouTube, is a great example. “My most productive time is the time I carve out for myself when no one else is around,” she says.

4-Set self-imposed deadlines

While we usually think of stress as a bad thing, a manageable level of self-imposed stress can actually be helpful in terms of giving us focus and helping us meet our goals. For open-ended tasks or projects, try giving yourself a deadline, and then stick to it.

5-Clean up your act

If you regularly lose time because you’re scrambling to find files, go in early or stay late one day to do a clean sweep of your desk. Then, get into the habit of investing a few minutes each day to organize and tidy up.

6-Say “No” Without Being A Jerk

Say no to good opportunities to focus on the great ones. As a serial entrepreneur, Corina Toma explains, “Not saying ‘yes’ all the time is a great way to keep my motivation high and boost productivity”

7-Quit multitasking

While we tend to think of the ability to multitask as an important skill for increasing efficiency, the opposite may, in fact, be true. Psychologists have found attempting to do several tasks at once can result in lost time and productivity.

8-Reward yourself
When you reach a milestone or finish a project, give yourself something sweet. Go out to lunch or dinner, don’t go to work so early, go for a run, have some fun. Reward yourself often for performance well done.

9-Embrace Failure As A Learning Opportunity

Many of us let a fear of failure keep us from being as productive as possible. This was a lesson said by a successful character “I grew up striving for perfection. If it meant that I was not going to get the best outcome, I wouldn’t even try.”

10-Turn off notifications
No one can be expected to resist the allure of an email, voicemail, or text notification. During work hours, turn off your notifications, and instead, build in time to check email and messages.

11- Break down big projects
Intimidation can lead to procrastination. So break big, complicated projects into smaller, more manageable tasks. You’ll feel less overwhelmed. You also will gain a sense of accomplishment.

12-Focus On Impact, Not Influence

It’s easier to be productive when you’re passionate about your work. What motivates you? Focusing on the reason makes it easier to find the energy to keep going, even when you feel tired or stressed.

13-Work in 90-minute intervals

Researchers at Florida State University have found elite performers (athletes, chess players, musicians, etc.) who work in intervals of no more than 90 minutes are more productive than those who work 90 minutes-plus.

14-Discover project apps

Take advantage of the wide selection of software specifically designed to help people increase productivity, keep track of projects, meet deadlines and be more organized.

15-Help Others Up The Mountain

As a manager, you’re not only responsible for your own productivity; you need to lift others as well. Worth note that empowering others can help everyone achieve more.
